During the day we will get acquainted with the rural Finland, an idyllic small town with its sights and interesting history!

We will start our day from the Ypäjä Equine College at 10 o’clock in the morning. Our first site is Tammela and there the Häme Nature Centre. Here our local guide will tell us about the south-western bog nature, national parks, Tavastia lake upland and we will have an opportunity to watch a short, 18 minutes, video of the dialogue between human beings and nature. The music in the video has been composed by Jean Sibelius. We will continue our journey along the old Oxroad, one of the first “highways” from Turku, the old capital of Finland, to north-east. We will stop in the Saari Public’s Park to have lunch. Lunch will be served in the South-Western Tavastia Log-cabin and the menu is part of the official Finland 100 Years Menu.

After lunch we will drive to small town, called Forssa. The development of Forssa from the small, idyllic country village to one of the largest textile industry centres of our country started in 1847 when a Swedish born Axel Wilhelm Wahren founded a cotton factory by the fall of Loimijoki river. (fors = Swedish word for a fall and therefore the town is called Forssa). During the last years the town has become famous by using this old historical factory environment for new business and also cultural purposes. The town was also awarded with the National Town Park Status in 2015.
We will visit the old Spinning Mill where there is now a Museum dedicated to old textile industry in Forssa and surrounding countryside from the beginning of the 19th century up to 1970’s. This Museum has also been nationally awarded. After the museum we will have an opportunity for shopping in the Finlayson outlet shop. Finlayson is a wellknown manufacturer of all kinds of household textiles. Return back to Ypäjä about 17 o'clock.
